1. The Commandment Spoken
a. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God
Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the Lord and invoke the God of Israel - but not in truth or righteousness. Isaiah 48:1
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' Matthew 7:22-23
b. You shall hallow the name of God
This is the New Testament version of this command
Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:9-10
c. You shall not go unpunished
The Word is silent about how God will do this but be assured He will do it.
